2001 RILEY’S
RUMBLE HALF MARATHON “NEW LOCATION AND NEW TIME”
By Nancy Betress
With the popularity of Riley’s Rumble Half Marathon,
this year’s event has been moved to Poolesville High School and will begin at
7:00 a.m. Last year 700+ runners
used this event as part of their training for fall marathons.
Conducted by the Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MCRRC),
the half marathon is part of the MCRRC Championship Series. The USATF certified course will take you through the rolling
countryside of upper Montgomery County with numerous water stations on the
course and light refreshments at the finish.
Due to crowd size, online registration is being offered this year until
August 1, 2001. Race day
registration will begin at 5:30 a.m.
Poolesville High School is located at 17501 Willard Road.
Take I-495 to I-270, exit at MD 28 WEST to White’s Ferry Road (107),
and veer to the left. Take
White’s Ferry Road into Poolesville, continue through a four-way stop, and
take the next left on Willard Road. Poolesville
High will be on your left.
