NEW YORK CITY MARATHON
LOTTERY POSTPONED
From: Marc Frommer <marc.frommer@PDX.DATALEX.COM
Due to the tragic deaths of three New York City firefighters on
Sunday, June 17, New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani has
respectfully postponed the NYC marathon lottery from Thursday, June 21
until Wednesday, June 27, to fulfill the obligations of his office in
attending the funerals of the fallen firefighters. "Mayor Giuliani has
been the marathon?s biggest supporter since he came into office and
has always presided over the Marathon lottery. We know that all of the
runners waiting anxiously for the lottery will understand needing to
wait just a few more days because of this tragedy," said Allan
Steinfeld, race director. The lottery will take place at 10:00 a.m at
Rockefeller Center, on the stairs at the base of the Channel Gardens
that lead down to the skating rink between 49th and 50th Street at 5th
Avenue. The public is encouraged to attend. Results of the lottery
will be posted at nycmarathon.org on Wednesday night.
