 PVA/USATF Selects Representative to Compete at Freihofer’s Run for Women 5k National Championship 

On Sunday, April 29, 2001, the Pike’s Peek 10k, in Rockville, Maryland, served as a qualifier for the Freihofer’s Run for Women.  This event, a 23-year tradition, serves as the USA 5k National Championship and is one of the country’s largest all-female races. 

Monica Grillo of Arlington, Virginia, was selected to represent   PVA under the Freihofer’s Regional Development Program.  Monica completed the Pike’s Peek 10k in 37:47 for a sixth place finish.  The developmental program gives promising Association-level athletes an opportunity to compete in USATF National Road Racing Championships. 

The race will be held in Albany, New York, on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Empire State Plaza.
