Avon
Walking and Running-Baltimore Helps
Women Take Control of their “Heart Health” with Weekly
Training Sessions
WHAT:
Avon Walking and Running, created
by Avon Products, Inc., returns to Baltimore with a nine-week
series of exercise training
sessions designed to help women
of every age and fitness level take control of their health, fitness and
“heart”. The sessions will
teach women, from beginner to experienced, running and walking techniques,
stretching and warm-up exercises as well as proper nutrition.
Each of the sessions is designed to prepare women for the Avon
Walking and Running-Baltimore 5K Run or 5K Walk on Sunday, September 9, 2001
at Inner Harbor’s Rash Field.
WHY:
Heart
disease is the number one killer of women.
It is the cause of death more often than all cancers combined.
Studies indicate that one-third of these deaths can be prevented by
simple exercise. Walking and
running are time-efficient, cost-effective and accessible options that help
women build confidence and self-esteem, while improving their physical health
and lowering their risk of cardiovascular disease.
